Car
To reach Slieve Bearnagh in Mourne Mountains by car, start from the town of Newcastle. Take the A50 road towards Kilkeel and follow the signs for Trassey Road. Turn onto Trassey Road and continue until you reach the car park at Meelmore Lodge. From the car park, follow the signs for the Trassey Track which will lead you towards Slieve Bearnagh. The hike to the summit from the car park takes about 2-3 hours depending on your pace.
Public Transportation
If traveling by public transportation, take a bus to Newcastle from a nearby town or city. From Newcastle, you can either take a taxi to the starting point at Meelmore Lodge or inquire about any local shuttle services that may be available. Once at Meelmore Lodge, follow the signs for the Trassey Track which will lead you towards Slieve Bearnagh. The hike to the summit from the car park takes about 2-3 hours depending on your pace.
