Car
If you are traveling by car, start by navigating to Killarney town. From the center of Killarney, head southwest on Main Street (N71) towards Ross Rd. Continue on Ross Rd for about 2 kilometers. You will see signs for Ross Castle along the way. The castle is located at Ross Rd, Ross Island, Killarney, Co. Kerry, V93 V304. There is a parking area available near the site, but be mindful of any parking fees that may apply.
Public Transportation
If using public transport, take a bus from Killarney Bus Station to Ross Castle. Bus services such as the 40 route operate frequently between Killarney and the castle. The journey takes approximately 10-15 minutes. Once you arrive at the Ross Castle stop, it is a short walk to the entrance of the castle. Ensure to check the latest bus schedules in advance as they may vary, especially on weekends.
Walking
If you are already on The Kerry Way and wish to walk to Ross Castle, you can follow the trail signs leading towards Killarney. The walk from the Kerry Way to Ross Castle is approximately 5 kilometers and should take about 1 to 1.5 hours. Follow the scenic route, which offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Upon arriving at Ross Rd, turn left, and you will find the entrance to Ross Castle shortly ahead.
