Walking
Start at the Westport Town Centre. From the main square, head north on Castlebar Street (N59) towards the direction of Castlebar. Continue walking straight for about 1.5 km. You will pass by several shops and cafes along the way. Keep an eye out for the signs indicating N59. As you approach the outskirts of the town, you will see the Glendenning Monument on your right-hand side, just a short distance after the turn-off for Cahernamart. The monument is situated along the roadside, and there is a small area to stop and view it safely.
Cycling
If you have a bicycle, you can start from Westport Town Centre. Head north on Castlebar Street (N59) and continue straight for approximately 1.5 km. The route is relatively flat and easy to navigate. You will pass various local shops and eateries. As you get closer, look for the Glendenning Monument on your right side, just past the Cahernamart turn-off. There is space to park your bike nearby while you visit the monument.
Public Transport
From Westport Town Centre, walk to the nearest bus stop on Castlebar Street. You can catch a bus heading towards Castlebar. Make sure to ask the driver to let you off at the Cahernamart stop, which is close to the Glendenning Monument. Once you get off the bus, the monument will be a short walk down the road on your right. The journey should take about 10-15 minutes, and buses run regularly throughout the day.
