Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by navigating to the Wicklow Mountains National Park. From Dublin, take the N11 southbound. At the Roundwood exit, follow the R755 towards Roundwood. Continue on the R759 towards Glendalough. As you approach the Glendalough area, look for signs to Djouce. The nearest car park is at the Djouce Mountain trailhead, located at approximate coordinates 53.130482, -6.239332. Parking here is usually free, but be sure to check any local signage for specific rules.

• Public Transport

  To reach Djouce by public transportation, take a bus from Dublin to Wicklow town. The Bus Éireann service (Route 133 or 183) operates regularly. Once in Wicklow town, transfer to a local bus or taxi heading towards Glendalough. The closest drop-off point would be the Glendalough Visitor Centre. From there, you can either hike to Djouce, which will take approximately 1.5 hours, or arrange a taxi to the Djouce trailhead. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance and allow for some waiting time.

• Walking/Hiking

  If you are already in the vicinity of Glendalough or have parked your car at a nearby location, you can hike to Djouce. Start from the Glendalough Visitor Centre and follow the marked trails. The hiking route to Djouce is approximately 5 km and can take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace. Ensure you have appropriate footwear and supplies, as the terrain can be rugged.
