Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring הר ישי.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
From the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve entrance, head southeast on the main path. Follow the signs pointing toward the Nahal David trail. Continue along the trail, which is well-marked, until you reach the split for Nahal David and Nahal Arugot. Take the left path towards Nahal Arugot. As you ascend, keep an eye out for the signs indicating the route to הר ישי. The hike will involve some elevation gain, so be prepared for a moderate climb.
Walking
Once you are on the Nahal Arugot trail, continue following the path until you reach the junction leading to הר ישי. This section may include some rocky areas, so watch your footing. After approximately 1.5 kilometers, you'll start seeing trail markers directing you towards הר ישי. The final approach involves a bit of scrambling, so take your time and enjoy the views as you get closer.
Walking
As you near the summit of הר ישי, the trail may become less defined, but follow the natural path upward. Look for any rock piles or markers that help guide you. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the Dead Sea and the surrounding desert landscape. Make sure to take plenty of pictures and enjoy the serene atmosphere before making your way back down.
