Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Jerusalem. Head southwest on King George Street toward Jaffa Street, then turn right onto Jaffa Street. Continue on Jaffa Street which becomes Derech Hebron. Follow this road for about 6 kilometers. Look for signs directing you to Gilo. From Derech Hebron, take the exit toward Gilo. Continue straight until you see the entrance to Gilo Forest on your left. There is no entry fee for the forest itself, but be aware of potential parking fees in nearby areas.
Public Transportation
To reach Gilo Forest using public transportation, start by taking the light rail from the City Center (e.g., the Mahane Yehuda market area) to the 'Mount Herzl' station. From there, catch bus line 15, which goes directly to Gilo. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to Gilo Forest, which is typically marked. Once you are off the bus, you may have to walk a short distance to reach the entrance of the forest. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance for any changes. A single bus ticket costs about 5.90 shekels.
