Walking
From the Masada Visitor Center, head east towards the entrance of the national park. Follow the signs that direct you towards the Snake Path. Once you reach the base of the Snake Path, begin your ascent. The path is well-marked and takes you up the mountain. Upon reaching the top, you will find the ruins of Masada and can enjoy the stunning views of the Dead Sea. Please note that Mar Saba Monastery is located outside of Masada, so this route is for visiting Masada itself. To reach Mar Saba, you will need to return to the Visitor Center.
Bus
From the Masada Visitor Center, take a bus to the nearest major city, which is Jericho. Buses run regularly and can be caught just outside the Visitor Center. Once you arrive in Jericho, look for local taxis or rideshare options to take you directly to Mar Saba Monastery. The monastery is about 30 minutes away from Jericho by car. Ensure to agree on a fare or use a rideshare app for convenience.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from the Masada Visitor Center. Simply ask the staff at the center to call a taxi for you. The drive to Mar Saba Monastery will take approximately 30 minutes. Confirm with the driver that they know the location of Mar Saba Monastery before setting off.
