If you are driving from the Red Sea Coral Reef area, start by heading south on Route 12. Follow the signs for Eilat. After approximately 30 kilometers, you will reach the border crossing into Egypt. Note that you will need your passport and may have to pay a small fee for the border crossing. Once you cross into Egypt, continue on Route 1 toward Saint Catherine. Abu Galoum is located near the town of Saint Catherine. Follow the signs to Abu Galoum, and you will reach the nature preserve. Be aware that the roads may be unpaved near the preserve, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended.
