Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Safed, start at the Safed central bus station. Head southeast on HaYarden Street until you reach the intersection with HaNavi Street. Turn right and continue straight. You'll pass by various small shops and cafes. Follow HaNavi Street as it curves slightly to the left and becomes Jerusalem Street. Continue walking for about 10 minutes until you see the entrance to The Old City on your right. The entrance is marked and will lead you into the historic area.

    If you are near the Artist Quarter, start at the main square (Kikar Ha’Meginim). Head northeast on HaRav Kook Street, walking past the local art galleries. Continue until you reach the end of the street, where you will see the old city walls. Follow the walls to your left until you find an entrance into The Old City. It should take about 15 minutes.

    From the Safed Citadel, head south on the main path that leads away from the citadel. As you descend, you will intersect with the main road. Turn left onto Jerusalem Street and walk down until you reach the entrance of The Old City. This route offers beautiful views of Safed and will take around 10 minutes.
