Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest town along Alta Via 1, such as Ortisei. Head north on the SS242 road towards Selva di Val Gardena. Continue on SS242 until you reach the junction with SS12. Take a right onto SS12 and follow the signs for Bruneck (Brunico). After approximately 20 km, take the exit towards Val Badia (SS244). Continue on SS244 for about 15 km until you reach St. Martin in Badia. Follow the main road into the village and look for signs to Renato Valle, located at 39030 St. Martin, Autonomous Province of Bolzano – South Tyrol. Parking may be available nearby, but check for any local parking fees.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a train to Brunico. From there, transfer to a local bus heading towards St. Martin in Badia. The bus service is operated by SAD and typically runs several times a day. Check the schedule in advance as the frequency may vary. Once you arrive at St. Martin in Badia, you can walk to Renato Valle, which is located in the center of the village. Be sure to check bus fare prices beforehand; a single ticket typically costs around €3-5.

• Walking

  If you are already hiking on Alta Via 1, make your way towards St. Martin in Badia, which is a part of the route. Once you reach the village, follow the local signs to Renato Valle. It is approximately a 20-minute walk from the main trail to the restaurant, and the path is well-marked. Ensure you have appropriate hiking gear and check the weather conditions before you head out.
