From the center of Assisi, start at the Basilica di San Francesco. Head southwest on Via San Francesco towards Piazza del Comune. Continue straight onto Via del Comune until you reach the main square. From there, take Via di Porta Perlici and follow the signs for Spoleto. You will walk through the scenic countryside along the Via del Monte Subasio, which will lead you out of Assisi. The walk to Spoleto takes approximately 1.5 hours.
