The Majestic Campanile San Nicolò: A Beacon of History in Lecco

Getting There

• Public Transport - Train

  If you are in Bergamo, start by heading to the Bergamo train station (Stazione di Bergamo). You can walk to the station from the city center or take a local bus (lines 1, 6, or 8). Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Lecco. Trains to Lecco run frequently, approximately every 30 minutes. The journey takes about 40 minutes. Upon arrival at Lecco train station, exit the station and head towards the lake. Turn left and walk along the lakeside promenade until you reach Piazza Sagrato Basilica, where Campanile San Nicolò is located.

• Public Transport - Bus

  From Bergamo, you can also take a bus to Lecco. Head to the Bergamo bus station (Stazione delle Autolinee), located near the train station. Look for the buses heading toward Lecco (check the schedule for lines such as 3 or 4). The bus journey will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in Lecco, follow the signs to the town center and continue to Piazza Sagrato Basilica, where Campanile San Nicolò is situated.

• Walking

  If you are staying in the city center of Bergamo, you can enjoy a scenic walk to Lecco. The distance is about 20 kilometers and would take approximately 4-5 hours. Start by walking towards the railway path near the train station, then follow the signs towards Lecco. Be prepared for a beautiful walk, but ensure you have enough time and water, and wear comfortable shoes.
