Train
From Bologna Centrale train station, purchase a ticket to Formigine. The train ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Formigine station, exit the station and turn left onto Via R. Margherita. Walk straight for about 10 minutes until you reach Piazza Calcagnini. The Castello di Formigine will be on your right.
Bus
From Bologna, you can take the bus number 671 from the Bologna Autostazione (bus station). The journey takes around 40 minutes. Get off at the 'Formigine - Piazza Calcagnini' stop. After getting off, the Castello di Formigine is just a short walk ahead. Follow the signs towards the castle.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Bologna. Head towards the Via Emilia road, which will take you out of the city. Follow the road for about 15 kilometers towards Formigine. Once you reach the town, follow signs pointing to the castle, which is located at Piazza Calcagnini.
Walking
For those adventurous enough to walk, start from the center of Bologna. Head south towards Via Emilia and walk straight, which is about 15 kilometers to Formigine. Upon reaching Formigine, head towards Piazza Calcagnini where you will find the Castello di Formigine. This option will take several hours, so ensure you are prepared.
