If you are starting from the Catania Cathedral (Duomo di Catania), head south on Via Etnea towards Piazza Università. Continue straight until you reach Piazza Università, then turn left onto Via Vittorio Emanuele II. Walk straight and cross the street at the intersection with Via Plebiscito. Continue on Via Vittorio Emanuele II until you reach the intersection with Via Santa Maria dell'Indirizzo. Turn right onto Via Santa Maria dell'Indirizzo, and you will find Piazza Umbrella straight ahead.
Public Transport - Bus
From the Catania Central Station, take bus number 431 towards the 'Catania Centro' stop. Get off at the stop called 'Piazza Stesicoro'. From there, walk towards Via Etnea, then head south towards Piazza Università. Turn left onto Via Vittorio Emanuele II, continue straight, and then turn right onto Via Santa Maria dell'Indirizzo. Piazza Umbrella will be in front of you.
Walking from the Fish Market
If you are at the Catania Fish Market (La Pescheria), exit the market and head towards Via Pardo. Walk along Via Pardo until you reach Via Vittorio Emanuele II. Turn left and continue walking straight. After crossing Via Santa Maria dell'Indirizzo, you will reach Piazza Umbrella.
Walking from the Bellini Garden
Starting from the Bellini Garden (Giardino Bellini), exit the garden and head towards Via Etnea. Walk north along Via Etnea until you reach Piazza Università. Turn right onto Via Vittorio Emanuele II. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Via Santa Maria dell'Indirizzo, then turn right. Piazza Umbrella will be ahead.
