Bus
To reach Porta Catania in Taormina, start by making your way to the Catania Central Bus Station (Stazione degli Autobus Catania) located at Piazza Giovanni Verga. From there, purchase a ticket for a bus heading to Taormina. The journey will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at the Taormina bus station, exit and follow the signs leading you toward the main pedestrian area. Walk straight for about 10 minutes along Viale A. Duca d'Aosta, which will lead you to Corso Umberto. Continue along Corso Umberto until you reach Porta Catania, which is a prominent archway marking the entrance to Taormina.
Train and Bus
Begin your journey at Catania Centrale Train Station. Take a train to Taormina-Giardini station; the train ride takes about 40 minutes. Upon arrival, exit the train station and look for the bus stop outside. Board the bus labeled 'Taormina.' The bus ride will take approximately 10 minutes. You will arrive at the main bus terminal in Taormina. From there, follow the path leading to Viale A. Duca d'Aosta. Walk straight for about 10 minutes until you reach Corso Umberto. Porta Catania will be at the end of this street, welcoming you into Taormina.
Walking (from nearby areas)
If you are already in Taormina or nearby, you can walk to Porta Catania. From the main square, Piazza IX Aprile, head down Via Teatro Greco towards Viale A. Duca d'Aosta. Continue straight until you reach Corso Umberto. Turning left onto Corso Umberto, walk for about 5 minutes until you see Porta Catania on your right. This is a lovely walk that allows you to enjoy the beautiful architecture and vibrant atmosphere of Taormina.
