Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Gaiole in Chianti, which is well connected to other towns in the Chianti Classico region. From Gaiole, take the SP3 road towards Radda in Chianti. After about 5 km, look for signs directing you to Meleto Castle. Turn onto the local road towards 'Castello di Meleto' and follow it for approximately 1.5 km until you reach the castle entrance. There is usually parking available near the castle.
Public Transportation
To reach Meleto Castle using public transportation, take a bus from Siena to Gaiole in Chianti. The bus journey takes about 1 hour and buses run regularly, but be sure to check the latest schedule. Once you arrive in Gaiole, you can either take a taxi or walk to the castle, which is about 5 km away. If walking, head north on Via Roma, then take the SP3 towards Radda in Chianti. After about 5 km, look for signs to Meleto Castle and follow the local road to the entrance. Be aware that walking may take approximately 1 hour depending on your pace.
Taxi or Ride-Sharing
If you prefer a more direct route without the hassle of public transport, consider taking a taxi or using a ride-sharing app from Gaiole in Chianti to Meleto Castle. This will cost you around 15-25 euros and will take about 10 minutes depending on traffic. Ensure you have cash or a credit card ready for payment.
