Getting There

Car
If you are driving from the center of Cortina d'Ampezzo, head southwest on Corso Italia towards Via Roma. Continue on this main road for about 1.5 km until you reach the junction for the Auronzo di Cadore. Follow the signs for Passo Giau. After approximately 10 km, you will arrive at a parking area near the base of the mountain. The parking area is usually paid; expect to pay around €5-€10 for the day. From the parking area, you can either hike or take a cable car to reach Rifugio Averau.
