Getting There

• Car

  From the center of Cortina d'Ampezzo, head southwest on Corso Italia toward Via del Castello. Continue straight for about 1.5 km, then turn right onto Strada Statale 51 di Alemagna (SS51). Follow this road for approximately 3 km until you reach a fork. At the fork, take the left road (Strada Comunale Lago Federa) and follow the signs for Lago Federa. The road will take you through scenic landscapes, and you may need to park your car in designated areas near the lake as there are limited parking options close to the water.

• Public Transportation

  Start at the Cortina d'Ampezzo Bus Station (Stazione degli Autobus Cortina). Take the bus towards Passo Falzarego, which operates several times a day. The trip takes about 30 minutes, and you should disembark at the 'Lago Federa' stop. From the bus stop, follow the marked trails; it's a short, scenic walk of about 15-20 minutes to reach the lake. Be sure to check the bus schedule for return trips, as services may vary throughout the day.

• Hiking

  If you are feeling adventurous, you can hike from Cortina d'Ampezzo to Lago Federa. Begin your hike at the center of Cortina, following the signs for the hiking trail to Lago Federa. The trail is approximately 5 km and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the lake. Ensure you wear appropriate hiking shoes and bring enough water. The trail offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and is a great way to experience the natural beauty of the Dolomites.
