If you are in the city center of Bologna, start at Piazza Maggiore, which is a central square. From there, head east on Via Rizzoli until you reach Via Ugo Bassi. Turn right onto Via Ugo Bassi and continue until you reach the intersection with Via Indipendenza. Turn left onto Via Indipendenza and walk straight until you reach the Porta Galliera, a historical gate. Continue through the gate and follow the signs for the train station (Stazione di Bologna Centrale). Once at the station, take a train to Ferrara. The train ride takes about 30 minutes. After arriving at Ferrara train station, exit onto Via della Libertà and walk straight towards the city center. After about 15 minutes, you will arrive at Piazza della Cattedrale.

From Bologna, you can take a train from Bologna Centrale to Ferrara. Trains run frequently, and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Ferrara train station, exit the station and follow the signs to the bus stop. You can take Bus Line 1 or Line 5 towards the city center. Get off at the stop 'Piazza della Cattedrale.' The Cathedral of Ferrara will be right in front of you.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Bologna and ride towards Ferrara. Start from the city center and take Via delle Belle Arti towards Via San Vitale. Continue straight until you reach the outskirts of Bologna, where you will find bike paths leading to Ferrara. The ride is approximately 50 km and can take around 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Once you arrive in Ferrara, head towards the city center and look for signs directing you to Piazza della Cattedrale.
