Medici Ermete & Figli is a winery steeped in history and tradition, located in the heart of Reggio Emilia. Founded in 1890 by Remigio Medici, who initially ran three taverns, the winery was established to showcase the family's vineyards nestled between Via Emilia and the Enza valley foothills. His son, Ermete, expanded the winery's reach, and later generations, Valter and Giorgio, began exporting their wines, further solidifying the brand's reputation.Today, the winery spans approximately 80 hectares of organically grown vineyards in the Emilia-Romagna region. Now in its fifth generation, the Medici family blends extensive vineyard knowledge with winemaking expertise, exporting their exceptional wines to over 70 countries worldwide. The estate is housed in a charming 18th-century farmhouse, surrounded by the picturesque landscape of the Enza River valley.Visitors can explore the winery's museum, showcasing the tools and equipment used in wine production throughout history. A guided tour offers insights into the winemaking process, followed by a tasting session of their renowned Lambrusco wines and traditional balsamic vinegar. The balsamic vinegar is aged for a minimum of 12 years in special barrels, giving it unique aromas and flavors. Medici Ermete also pioneered quality Lambrusco, creating the first single vineyard, single vintage Lambrusco in 1994 with the release of Concerto.
