Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards Bologna. From the A1 motorway, take the exit for Bologna Centro. Follow signs for the city center and then for 'Pinacoteca Nazionale' or 'Art Gallery'. You will find parking options nearby, but be aware that some areas may require parking fees. Once you park, the museum is within a 10-minute walk. Head towards Via delle Belle Arti, and you will find the Pinacoteca Nazionale at Via delle Belle Arti, 56.

• Train

  For those using public transportation, take a train to Bologna Centrale station, which is well connected with major cities in Emilia-Romagna. From Bologna Centrale, exit the station and catch bus number 28 towards 'Fossolo' or number 11 towards 'Mazzini'. Get off at the 'Rizzoli' stop. From there, it’s a short 5-minute walk to the museum. You may need to purchase a bus ticket, which costs around €1.50 and can be bought at kiosks or vending machines at the station.

• Bus

  If you prefer taking a bus directly from other parts of Emilia-Romagna, check local bus services to Bologna. Once in Bologna, you can use the same bus routes mentioned earlier (28 or 11) to reach the museum. Make sure to validate your ticket before boarding, as fare evasion can incur fines. Bus tickets usually cost around €1.50.

• Walking

  If you're already in the Bologna city center, walking is a great way to reach the Pinacoteca Nazionale. From Piazza Maggiore, head northeast on Via Rizzoli, continue straight onto Via Indipendenza, then turn right onto Via delle Belle Arti. The museum will be on your left. It’s approximately a 15-minute walk.
