The villa, commissioned in the late 18th century by Jacopo Zambeccari, showcases neoclassical architecture and design by Giovanni Battista Martinetti.Over the years, Villa Spada has passed through several owners, including the Spada family, who gave the villa its name. It even served as the Austrian army headquarters in 1849. In the 1960s, the Municipality of Bologna acquired the property and opened it to the public.The park spans over 6 hectares and features Italian-style gardens with statues and manicured hedges.
