Getting There

• Bus

  From Bologna city center, head to the bus terminal located at Via Marconi. Take the bus number 99 towards Ferrara. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour. Get off at the 'Ferrara' bus stop. Once you arrive, Piazza XXIV Maggio is about a 10-minute walk from the bus stop. Head southeast on Corso Isonzo and then turn left onto Via della Libertà. Continue straight until you reach Piazza XXIV Maggio.

• Train

  Go to Bologna Centrale train station, which is well marked in the city center. Purchase a ticket for Ferrara, which is approximately a 30-minute train ride. Once you arrive at Ferrara train station, exit the station and turn left. Walk straight along Viale Cavour, then turn right onto Corso Giovecca. After a 15-minute walk, you will reach Piazza XXIV Maggio.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Bologna. Head east toward Via Irnerio and continue on to Via Zamboni. Follow the signs for the bike path leading to Ferrara. The ride is approximately 45-60 minutes. Once in Ferrara, follow the signs to the city center; Piazza XXIV Maggio will be clearly marked.

• Walking tour

  For a more adventurous route, you can start walking from Bologna to Ferrara. This is a long trek of about 45 km and will take approximately 9-10 hours. Start from the city center, following Via Indipendenza to Via Saragozza. Keep heading northeast until you reach Ferrara. Once you arrive, ask locals for directions to Piazza XXIV Maggio, which is a well-known landmark.
