Getting There

• Train

  From Florence Santa Maria Novella train station, take a train towards Empoli. The train journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the Vinci train station. Once you arrive at Vinci, exit the train station and follow the signs to the town center. The Birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci is about a 20-minute walk from the station. Head northeast on Via Giuseppe Verdi, then turn left onto Via di Anchiano. The museum is located at Via di Anchiano, 50059 Vinci FI.

• Bus

  From the Florence city center, you can catch the bus number 114 or 161 from the main bus station (Firenze S.M.N.). The bus will take you directly to Vinci. The journey takes around 50 minutes. Once you arrive at the Vinci bus stop, walk towards the town center, following the signs for the Birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci, which is about a 15-minute walk. Head northeast on Via Giuseppe Verdi, then turn left onto Via di Anchiano until you reach the museum.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Florence. Head out of the city towards Vinci, which is about 35 kilometers away. Follow the cycling paths that lead through the picturesque Tuscan countryside. It takes about 2 hours to reach Vinci by bike. Upon arrival, head towards Via di Anchiano to find the Birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci.

• Walking Tour

  If you're feeling adventurous and have time to spare, consider walking from Florence to Vinci. The distance is approximately 35 kilometers, so it’s best to start early in the day. You can take the path through the scenic hills of Tuscany. Once you arrive in Vinci, navigate to Via di Anchiano to find the museum. This option is recommended only for experienced walkers and those who enjoy long hikes.
