Getting there

Car

To reach the Amalfi Coast from Irpinia by car, start your journey by getting on the A16 autostrada (motorway) from your location in Irpinia. Follow the signs toward Naples and continue on the A16 until you reach the junction for the A3 autostrada toward Salerno. Take the A3 towards Salerno and exit at 'Castellammare di Stabia'. From there, follow the SS145 road towards Sorrento, and then take the SS163 which runs along the coastline toward Amalfi. The entire drive takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Be prepared for winding roads and breathtaking views as you approach the coast. Parking in Amalfi can be limited and may incur costs, typically around €2-€4 per hour.

Public Transportation

If you prefer to use public transportation, first head to the nearest train station in Irpinia, like Avellino. Take a train to Salerno (approximately 30-40 minutes ride). Upon arriving in Salerno, transfer to the SITA bus line that runs from Salerno to Amalfi. The bus ride will take about 1 to 1.5 hours. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may vary, particularly during the off-peak season. The bus fare costs around €3-€5. Enjoy the scenic ride along the coast!

Combination (Train and Bus)

Another option is to take a train from Avellino to Naples, which takes about 1 hour. From Naples, transfer to a train heading to Sorrento (about 1 hour).
