    Discover more about Borgogno

Borgogno Winery, nestled in the heart of Barolo, stands as a testament to centuries of winemaking tradition. Founded in 1761 by Bartolomeo Borgogno, it is one of the oldest and most respected wineries in the Barolo region. The winery's history is deeply intertwined with the story of Barolo itself, often referred to as the 'king of wines'. Walking into Borgogno is like stepping back in time. The original cement tanks line the walls, and the cellars exude a sense of history and dedication. The winery is known for its commitment to traditional methods, including manual harvesting and long aging periods in oak barrels. This dedication results in Barolo wines with rich, complex flavors that reflect the unique terroir of the region. Cesare Borgogno, who took over management in the early 20th century, is credited with expanding the winery's international reach and initiating the practice of aging Barolo Riserva wines for extended periods. In 2008, the Farinetti family, known for the Eataly brand, acquired Borgogno and revitalized the winery while maintaining its classic practices, including a conversion to organic farming. Today, Borgogno continues to produce exceptional Barolo wines that honor its long and storied past. Wine tastings and cellar tours are available by appointment.
