Discover more about Parco Forestale Del Roero

Discover the Parco Forestale del Roero, a hidden gem in Piedmont, Italy, offering a blend of natural beauty and outdoor activities. Situated among the towns of Sommariva Perno, Baldissero d'Alba, Ceresole d'Alba and Sommariva del Bosco, the park lies in what was once the Silva Popularis, the Po Valley's last large forest. Opened to the public between September 1997 and spring 1998, the park spans over 100 hectares, featuring both old-growth woodland and areas of reforestation, with over 150,000 trees planted in the last two decades. The park is designed to encourage interaction with the environment, offering comfortable visits for families, children, trekkers, and mountain bikers. Explore the Lago delle Ginestre, surrounded by broom and immersed in a floral undergrowth, offering picnic tables and barbecue areas. Visit the Lago degli Aironi, a haven for birdwatchers, where you can spot herons, mallards, and various migratory birds from hidden observation points. A marked 1800-meter fitness trail includes gymnastic equipment for an open-air workout. The park uniquely intertwines nature and environmental consciousness, as it is financed through a convenio col Comune with funds from a nearby landfill. This initiative supports the park's maintenance and reforestation efforts, making it a model for environmental sustainability.
