    Discover more about Pio Cesare

Pio Cesare stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of winemaking in the Piedmont region of Italy. Established in 1881 by Cesare Pio, the winery remains the only one operating within Alba's historic center, its cellars intertwined with the city's ancient Roman walls. For five generations, the Pio family has dedicated themselves to producing exceptional Barolo and Barbaresco wines, becoming pioneers in sharing these treasures with the world. The winery's location is unique, built on four levels, with one even below the water table of the Tanaro River. This ensures a constant temperature, ideal for fermentation and maturation in traditional Slavonian oak barrels. The family owns 70 hectares of vineyards in the Barolo and Barbaresco regions. Today, Federica Boffa, Cesare Benvenuto, and Augusto Boffa carry on the traditions. A visit to Pio Cesare offers a journey through time, where ancient cellars meet modern winemaking techniques. It's a chance to taste the history and passion that have made Pio Cesare an icon of Italian wine.
