Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start on the A10 motorway towards Genoa. Take the exit for Genova Ovest and merge onto Via di Francia. Follow the signs for Centro and then for Via XX Settembre. Once in the city center, look for parking facilities such as 'Parcheggio Piazza della Vittoria.' From there, it's a 10-minute walk to Piazza di S. Matteo, where the Chiesa e chiostro di San Matteo is located. Be aware that parking in Genoa can be expensive, typically around €2-€3 per hour.

• Train

  For visitors using the train, take a train to Genova Piazza Principe or Genova Brignole stations. From either station, you can catch the Metro Line 1 towards 'Fermi' if you arrive at Piazza Principe, or walk approximately 20 minutes from Genova Brignole. If you choose to walk, exit the station and head towards Via XX Settembre, then follow the directions to Piazza di S. Matteo. The journey from the train station should take around 30 minutes in total.

Once in the city, look for Bus Line 35 or 36 which will take you to Piazza de Ferrari. From there, it’s a short 5-minute walk to Piazza di S. Matteo. It costs around €1.50 for a single ride, and tickets can be purchased at kiosks or on the bus.

  For convenience, consider taking a taxi or using a ride-sharing service like Uber. This option will take you directly to Piazza di S. Matteo. The cost can vary based on your starting location but expect to pay around €20-€30 from the main train stations or nearby areas in the city.
