Madonon: A Panoramic Peak in Livigno

Madonon, also known as Mont da li Rèsa, is one of Livigno's most panoramic viewpoints, easily accessible and offering stunning vistas. The peak is adorned with a metal statue of the Madonon, a stylized Madonna watching over the mountains. From this vantage point, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the entire Livigno valley and a 360-degree panorama encompassing the Ortles-Cevedale and Bernina mountain ranges. The hike to Madonon is considered accessible to most, beginning with a ride on the Carosello 3000 gondola to its summit station at almost 3000 meters. From there, a well-marked path leads to Madonon in about an hour, with a gentle uphill grade. The trail, also known as route 157, passes by the picturesque Lac Salin before arriving at the summit. Near the Madonon statue is the Bivacco Involt da li Resa, a stone hut built by the Alpini, offering benches, a kitchen, and latrine facilities, though no beds. Besides hiking, the Madonon area provides opportunities for mountain biking and nature walks, with diverse flora and fauna to observe. During summer, vibrant alpine flowers add color to the landscape. Adventurers can explore various trails around Carosello 3000, including the descent through the Federia Valley. For experienced hikers, a challenging trail (the 'Baitel Tour') descends directly to Livigno, though it includes exposed and landslide-prone sections. Carosello 3000 offers several summer activities, including yoga, sunrise experiences, and wine tastings. Families can enjoy Moki Park, an outdoor play area near the Carosello 3000 hut.
