    Discover more about Val Federia

Val Federia is a picturesque side valley that parallels the main Livigno valley, offering a serene escape into unspoiled alpine nature. Located just behind the village of Livigno, it's separated by the Blesaccia mountain. This hidden gem is characterized by its stunning views, lush meadows, and traditional farmhouses, providing a tranquil contrast to the bustling tourist areas of Livigno. The valley is easily accessible and offers a variety of activities for outdoor enthusiasts. Hiking is a popular choice, with trails ranging from easy walks along the valley floor to more challenging climbs towards the surrounding peaks. Mountain biking and e-biking are also excellent ways to explore the area, with routes catering to different skill levels. Along the trails, you might spot local wildlife, including marmots, cows, and horses grazing in the meadows. Historically, Val Federia has been a secluded farming area, with the highest parts used for animal husbandry during winter and the lower areas cultivated. The valley's isolation has helped preserve its natural beauty and traditional character. In 1635, during the Thirty Years' War, the Duke of Rohan crossed the Cassana Pass with his troops and reached Val Federia, recognizing its strategic importance. Today, the valley remains a peaceful retreat, offering a glimpse into the past and a chance to connect with nature.
