Parco della Versiliana: A Coastal Oasis of Culture and Nature

Parco della Versiliana is a sprawling green space that serves as a refreshing contrast to the urban areas of Marina di Pietrasanta and Forte dei Marmi. This 80-hectare park is a significant remnant of the ancient Macchia di Marina, a coastal forest that once stretched along northern Tuscany. The park's name is linked to the writer Renato Fucini, who frequented the area, and it also gained fame from visits by poet Gabriele D'Annunzio. The park features a variety of landscapes, including ancient dunes populated by holm oaks and maritime pines, as well as areas of marshland. Visitors can explore the park's network of trails on foot or by bicycle, discovering diverse flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for local wildlife such as moorhens, grey wagtails and kingfishers. Villa La Versiliana, constructed in 1886, is located within the park.
