    Discover more about Torre Dell'Argentiera

Torre Dell'Argentiera, located in Monte Argentario, stands as a testament to the region's medieval past. This coastal tower, rebuilt in 1442, was initially part of a defensive system controlled by the Aldobrandeschi family. The tower's square structure, rising 25 meters high at an altitude of 252 meters, is constructed from local limestone. Over the centuries, Torre Dell'Argentiera served various purposes, including a secondary sighting point for the Spanish during the State of the Presidios. However, its inland location made it less effective against corsairs, leading to its eventual abandonment. Today, the tower and the remains of its surrounding walls offer visitors a unique photographic opportunity and a chance to explore a piece of local history. The tower can be reached from Porto Santo Stefano. Visitors can park in Piazzale Sant'Andrea and walk up Via dell'Argentiera, which becomes unpaved. The final part of the journey involves a steep path through Mediterranean scrub. The panoramic views from the tower include the coastline and lagoons.
