From Piazza Vittorio Veneto, a central square, walk southeast along Via Ridola. Continue onto Via del Corso, then turn right onto Via San Pietro Caveoso. Casa Cisterna will be on your left at Ponte S. Pietro Caveoso, 39. The walk is approximately 10-15 minutes and offers scenic views of the Sassi. Note that the area is primarily pedestrian, with some uneven surfaces.
Public Transport
Matera has a public transport system consisting of buses. From Matera Centrale train station, take the Sassi Line bus. This line is specifically designed to reach the UNESCO World Heritage site. Get off at the stop closest to Piazza San Pietro Caveoso, and walk a short distance to Ponte S. Pietro Caveoso, 39, where Casa Cisterna is located. A single ticket costs €0.8, or €1.50 if purchased on board.
Taxi
Taxis are available in Matera, and can be found at taxi stands or booked through phone. A taxi ride from Matera Centrale train station to Casa Cisterna typically costs around €10.50, depending on traffic and the specific route. The journey takes approximately 5-10 minutes. Ask the driver to take you to Ponte S. Pietro Caveoso, 39.
Parking
If driving to Matera, it's best to park outside the Sassi area as it is a Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL). Several parking areas are available near Via Piave or Via Gattini. Paid parking generally costs between €0.70 to €1 per hour. From the parking area, it's a 10-15 minute walk to Casa Cisterna. Alternatively, you can park in a garage such as Autoservizi Damasco (Recinto XX Settembre, 12) and use their shuttle service for around €5.
