Walking
From Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Matera's main square, walk along Via Roma towards Via del Castello. Turn left onto Via del Castello, and continue straight. The castle will be on your right after a short walk. The walk is approximately 10 minutes and is free.
Public Transport
Take bus line 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 5B, 9, 11, or 13 and get off at the bus stop in Via Lucana 101. From there, walk approximately 180 meters to Castello Tramontano. A single ticket costs €0.80, or €1.50 if purchased on board.
Parking
Parking within the historical center is not permitted. You can find parking spots near Via Ridola, Via Padre Minozzi, Via Vena, Via Chiancalata, and Via Castello. Via Vena offers a monitored parking lot for a fee. Parking fees around Matera are approximately €1.00 per hour, with a daily fee of €10.00.
