Discover more about Casa della Musica

The Casa della Musica, located in Parma's Palazzo Cusani, is a hub for musical activity and appreciation. Erected in the mid-15th century, Palazzo Cusani has a rich history, serving as a noble residence before becoming part of the University of Parma in the 17th century. After a careful restoration by the City of Parma, it reopened in 2002 as the Casa della Musica. The Casa della Musica comprises a concert hall, auditorium, library, and media center, as well as the Museo dell'Opera, Casa del Suono, and Museo Casa Natale Toscanini. The Casa del Suono explores the history of sound reproduction, while the Museo Casa Natale Toscanini is dedicated to the life and work of the famed conductor. The multimedia Museo dell'Opera takes visitors through four centuries of Italian opera. The Casa della Musica promotes musical culture through concerts, educational projects, and masterclasses. The Casa della Musica is also home to the Musicology Section of the University of Parma, the National Institute of Verdi Studies, and the Club dei 27 (Verdi enthusiasts). The Casa della Musica's cloister provides an outdoor venue for musical events during the summer months.
