Housed within the Palazzo Grassi, one of Bologna's oldest and most prestigious buildings, the Circolo offers a unique blend of historical significance and modern amenities. The Palazzo Grassi dates back to the 13th century, showcasing typical Bolognese architecture of the era. It was initially owned by the Canonici family before being acquired by the Grassi family in 1466. The Grassi family, prominent in Bologna since the 12th century, received the title of “Conti Palatini del Sacro Romano Impero” in 1478. The palace remained in their possession until 1848. In 1865, Palazzo Grassi became part of the assets of the Military Administration, housing various military offices and the Military Tribunal. Extensive renovations began in 1922 and concluded in 1934, transforming the building into the elegant Circolo Ufficiali that it is today. Today, the Circolo Ufficiali dell’Esercito features a range of services, including a guesthouse with 21 rooms, dining rooms with a capacity of 150, a bar, conference rooms, a card game room, a library, a reading room, a TV room, and billiard rooms. Its central location, a short walk from Piazza Maggiore, makes it an ideal spot for experiencing Bologna's cultural heart.
