Palazzo Rangoni stands as a testament to the rich history and cultural significance of Castelvetro di Modena. Originally a modest structure, the palace underwent significant transformations when Jacopino Rangoni acquired the fief of Castelvetro in the 14th century. It then became the headquarters for the Lords of the city. The palace assumed a representative and residential character, reflecting Castelvetro's importance as the capital of the feud. Rebuilt after the earthquake of 1501, Palazzo Rangoni boasts lavishly decorated rooms with 16th-century artwork attributed to Gian Antonio Scacceri. Noteworthy are the Sala dei Delfini (Dolphins Room), the Sala degli Orsi (Bears Room), and the Sala dei Putti (Putti Room). In 1564, the palace hosted the renowned poet Torquato Tasso as a guest of the Rangoni family; this event is commemorated in the Sala del Tasso with four large canvases by Ferdinando Manzini. Today, Palazzo Rangoni is open to the public, offering guided tours that unveil the beauty and history within its walls. Visitors can admire the finely decorated ceilings and walls, transporting themselves back to a time of Renaissance splendor. The palace also hosts events and exhibitions, further enriching the cultural experience.
