This palace has been the official residence of the Archbishop of Naples since its construction. Originally built in 1389 on the site of an early Christian basilica by Cardinal Archbishop Enrico Capece Minutolo, the palace underwent significant reconstruction and expansion in 1654 under Cardinal Archbishop Ascanio Filomarino. Architect Bonaventura Presti is believed to have overseen this transformation, which included the creation of a small square in front of the building, enhancing its presence. The palace's elongated structure features three stone portals, with a marble statue of San Gennaro, the patron saint of Naples, adorning the central one. Inside, the palace has been adorned by artists like Giovanni Lanfranco. Over the years, the palace has been restored, and it now houses a collection of paintings from closed churches, adding to its cultural value.
