Discover more about Lighthouse Punta Imperatore

The Lighthouse Punta Imperatore, located on the westernmost point of Ischia, has been a guiding light for sailors since 1884. The current lighthouse, activated in 1916, stands as a two-story white masonry building with a 13-meter tower. Its lantern, emitting two white flashes every 15 seconds, is visible up to 22 nautical miles away. For many years, the lighthouse was managed by Lucia Capuano, the widow of the lighthouse keeper who died in service. She took over her husband's job, becoming Italy's first female lighthouse keeper. Her story has been immortalized in a drama titled “Lucì, voci e volti dal faro”. Today, the Punta Imperatore Lighthouse is more than just a navigational aid; it's a unique destination offering breathtaking views and a tranquil atmosphere. The surrounding area features vineyards, gardens, and villas, creating a picturesque landscape. Visitors can also enjoy the sunset aperitivos on the terrace. The lighthouse also houses a boutique hotel with four rooms and a gourmet restaurant named in honor of Lucia Capuano.
