    The Sentiero Baia di Ieranto trail begins in Nerano, a small village in Massa Lubrense. From the main square in Nerano, walk down the main street. After a few meters, you'll find the footpath on your right. Follow the path, passing Villa Rosa. The trail is approximately 6 km round trip and takes about 3 hours to complete. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring water.

  • Public Transport

    To reach Nerano by public transport, take the SITA bus from Sorrento on the Sorrento - Marina del Cantone line. Get off at the Nerano village stop. From there, follow the walking directions to the Sentiero Baia di Ieranto trail. Bus tickets cost around €2-3 for a single trip.

  • Parking

    If driving to Nerano, parking is available in the village. Blue stripe parking is available for €1 per hour. Nerano Parking is another option, located 400 meters from the center of Nerano on the road to Marina del Cantone. They offer car valet services and luggage storage. The trail leads to the serene Baia di Ieranto, a part of the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella.The name 'Ieranto' derives from the Greek word “Ieros,” meaning “sacred,” reflecting its spiritual significance. According to legend, this bay was once home to the Sirens who attempted to lure Ulysses with their songs. Historically, the area was used for citrus cultivation and later, in the early 20th century, a limestone quarry operated here until the 1950s.The 6-kilometer round trip trail is considered moderately challenging, with some steep ascents and rocky paths. It takes about 3 hours to complete. The path is well-maintained and offers panoramic views. Along the way, hikers can see the remains of old lime kilns. The trail passes Villa Rosa, where writer Norman Douglas once resided.Today, the Baia di Ieranto is managed by Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI), who work to preserve the natural environment. Visitors can swim in the crystal-clear waters, kayak, and snorkel.
