From Orvieto, begin near the Church of San Crispino in Viterbo at Ponte del Sole. Cross the small bridge over the Rio Chiaro stream and turn left onto SS 71. An shrine marks the spot where the Sacred Corporal from the Miracle of Bolsena was handed over to Pope Urban IV in 1263. Leave SS 71 to follow the road uphill. After about 1200 meters, turn right to meet SS 71 again, and follow it uphill for 400 meters. At the start of a wide curve, leave the state road, turning right near a small building with a tower. After about 900 meters, you'll find a detour to the small lake of Sugano. Return to the path, passing the Pontesasso ditch to reach the village of Sugano. The Sasso Tagliato is along the route between Orvieto and Sugano.
