Bus
To reach Piazza Garibaldi in Cortona from Perugia, start by taking the bus from the main bus station in Perugia, which is located at Piazza Partigiani. Look for the bus line heading towards Cortona. The journey takes approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at the Cortona bus station, exit the station and head towards the main road (Via Roma). Walk straight along Via Roma until you reach the intersection with Via Nazionale. Turn right onto Via Nazionale, and continue walking for about 5 minutes. You will see signs pointing you towards Piazza Garibaldi.
Train and Walk
First, head to the Perugia train station, which is known as Stazione di Perugia. You can reach the train station by taking a local bus or a short taxi ride. Once at the train station, purchase a ticket to Camucia-Cortona, the nearest train station to Cortona. The train ride will take about 30 minutes. After arriving at Camucia-Cortona, exit the train station and walk towards the bus stop located just outside. Take the local bus that goes to Cortona. Get off at the stop in Piazza della Repubblica. From there, it's a 10-minute walk to Piazza Garibaldi. Head north on Via Nazionale, and follow the signs until you arrive at the piazza.

If you are feeling adventurous and up for a longer trek, you can walk to Cortona from Perugia, although this is quite a distance (approximately 30 km). Start from the center of Perugia, heading southeast towards the countryside. Follow the signs towards Cortona, which will guide you through scenic hills and landscapes. This walk can take several hours, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Once you arrive in Cortona, navigate to Piazza Garibaldi using local signs or a map.
