Angela is very knowledgeable (she has a Ph.D. in archaeology). She's from Ravenna and does a great job interpreting both the historic and artistic components of the places we visited. Very grateful to have had her show us around on 2 x 3 hour sessions over 2 days. It helps a whole lot to: i) be actually interested in the subject matter (the last years of the western Roman empire, the rise of the christian church) ii) come prepared by having read up on the subject matter. Otherwise, you're just a babe in the woods, gawking at nice things with no ability to link what you see to the great ebbs and flows of human history. Being able to make those links will take your visit to a higher level.

Marina was excellent. She was very mellow and patient, which was perfect for one of our elderly relatives on the tour. Her enthusiasm and love for mosaics shined through her descriptions and explanations of what we were seeing. In addition she showed us many other things along the way about Ravenna itself and it's culture. 100% worth the tour. We had an excellent time.
