If you are near the city center, make your way to the Ottaviano-San Pietro metro station on Line A (Red Line). Once you arrive at the Ottaviano station, exit the metro and head west on Via Ottaviano. You can take bus number 81 or 492 from various points in Rome, such as Termini Station or Piazza Venezia. Make sure to get off at the stop 'Piazza San Pietro.' From there, you will see the impressive St. Peter's Basilica, which is the main entrance to Vatican City. Just follow the crowds, and you'll be there in no time!

Walking
If you're staying near the historic center, a lovely walk to Vatican City is a great option! Head towards the Tiber River and follow it north. Cross the Ponte Sant'Angelo bridge, and you will arrive at Castel Sant'Angelo. From there, walk along the riverbank to the right, then turn left onto Via della Conciliazione. This street will lead you directly to St. Peter's Basilica, the entrance to Vatican City.

Tram
You can also take Tram 8 from various parts of the city to the stop 'Piazza dei Pio.' Once you get off, walk towards the Tiber River and cross over to the Vatican City area. It’s about a 15-minute walk to reach St. Peter's Basilica from the tram stop.
