Walking
From the historic center of San Gimignano, head towards the main Piazza della Cisterna. Exit the plaza to the east onto Via San Giovanni, and continue straight for about 500 meters until you reach the main road. Cross the road and look for the bus stop labeled 'San Gimignano - Piazza della Libertà.' Take a bus to Florence, which should take around an hour. Once you arrive in Florence, get off at the Santa Maria Novella train station.
Public Transport
After arriving at Santa Maria Novella station in Florence, exit the station and head towards the main street (Viale Giovanni Amendola). From there, you can catch the bus number 1 or 17 towards 'Piazza della Libertà.' Get off at the stop 'Piazza della Libertà' after two stops. From there, walk along Viale Filippo Strozzi for about 10 minutes; the Giardino della Fortezza will be on your left.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from the historic center of San Gimignano to Florence. Simply ask the front desk of your hotel or any local shop to call a taxi for you. The drive will take approximately 1 hour, and you can request to be dropped off at Giardino della Fortezza, located at V.le Filippo Strozzi, 3493.
