Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in the center of San Gimignano, start at the main square, Piazza della Cisterna. From there, head towards the Torre Grossa, the tallest tower in the town. As you face the tower, turn right and walk along Via San Giovanni for about 200 meters. You will come to a fork in the road. Take the left path, which will lead you to the entrance of Piazza Duomo. The entrance is marked by a large archway. As you walk through the archway, you will be greeted by the beautiful Piazza Duomo, where you can admire the cathedral and surrounding historical buildings.

    If you are at the Church of Sant'Agostino, exit the church and turn left onto Via San Giovanni. Continue walking straight for about 300 meters until you reach the intersection with Via delle Erbe. Turn right onto Via delle Erbe and follow it until it meets Piazza Duomo. The entrance to the piazza will be on your left, just a short walk away.

    From the San Gimignano bus station, exit the station and turn right onto Via della Libertà. Continue walking straight for about 600 meters until you reach the historic city walls. Enter the city through the main gate, Porta San Giovanni. Once inside, follow the main street, Via San Giovanni, for about 400 meters until you reach Piazza della Cisterna. From there, follow the previous directions to reach Piazza Duomo.
