Walking
If you are in the main square of San Gimignano, Piazza della Cisterna, start by facing the Torre Grossa (the tallest tower). From there, head towards the Via San Giovanni, which is the street that leads out of the square. Continue straight along Via San Giovanni for about 500 meters until you reach the intersection with Via della Madonna. At this intersection, turn right onto Via della Madonna. Keep walking for approximately 1 kilometer, and you will reach the town of Massa Marittima. The journey should take around 15 to 20 minutes, depending on your walking speed.
Public Transport
To reach Massa Marittima from San Gimignano using public transport, first make your way to the nearest bus stop, which is located at the edge of the town. Look for the bus that goes to Colle di Val d'Elsa, as this will be the main connection point. Once you board the bus, travel to Colle di Val d'Elsa and change buses there for the route heading to Massa Marittima. The entire journey may take around 1 to 1.5 hours, including waiting times and transfers.
