A different take on the Godfather 'tour'

A truly wonderful trip. We have visited Savoca a dozen times both online organised trips and using local buses. As Godfather fans bar Vitelli was always a favourite. Then we found this SAT tour which concentrated instead on the Villa degli Schiavi, the scene of several key deaths, including that of Apollonia. We traveled directly to the Villa where we were met by Barone Franco the 82 year old owner. He was so enthusiastic and willingly showed us around his property. We has complete access to the house and courtyard. Plenty of photo opportunities and plenty of time to take in all the artifacts and architecture. Then on to Savoca via Taormina Giardinini train station. We has around 2 hours to explore the village and Alfredo, our excellent guide, took us to a local bakery away from the crowds for a brilliant and cheap lunch. It was so relaxed, we enjoyed every moment. Alfredo pointed out film locations carefully so missed nothing. We finished with a quick catacombs visit which whilst not related to the godfather movies did give a sense of Sicilian culture that shadows the behaviours of out favourite movie protagonists.

Charming hill towns with lots of steep walking but beautiful so very worth the effort. We saw many places where the Godfather was filmed - sadly missed the villa but saw all the rest. Watch the first Godfather before taking the tour. Great little restaurant for pizza and wine too.

Not a Tour, A Life Experience - A Must

Picked this tour specifically for the visit of the House/Castle shown in the film and what a great decision it was. First the operator of the tour was excellent and able to accommodate our request, second the tour was private so it went at our pace with pick up at our hotel and third our tour guide Riccardo was a perfect fit, so knowledgable and truly a great host for Sicily. I chose this tour specifically for the tour stop of the house of Corleone (castle used in the filming of the Godfather); very few tours included this stop and WOW did it not disappoint! On arrival at the Castle, we got to meet the owner / Prince of the castle it was not just a meet and greet but he was with my Wife and I the entire time proudly showing us his home, the memorabilia of the time filming Godfather and his times hosting celebrities. The Prince’s hospitality in his home was so heartwarming never did I think we would have such a unique experience. It was a one on one time with a Prince! His castle around 600 years old, complete with walls a church and centuries of experiences and treasures. What was anticipated as a tour of sites from the GodFather filming resulted in a once of a lifetime experience. The Prince and his home is truly a Sicilian treasure and we got to be immersed in to a rich heritage of history and life. I just can’t say enough about the experience. Riccardo our guide was a true gentleman, tending to our needs, questions and knew all the best stops and those there that could turn a simple tour into a memorable life experience. The other stops on the trip were enchanting, a ride up to one of the churches in a three wheeled scooter was fun and certainly entertaining, a wonderful bite to eat and refreshing drink along the way made the pace of the tour relaxing and refreshed us from the busy site seeing vacation mode we were in. Highly recommend this experience. From the operator to our guide and the most unique experience of meeting and spending time with a Prince seeing his home was a life experience; truly an amazing time.
