If you're feeling adventurous and are up for a hike, you can walk to Alcantara Canyon from Taormina. Start at the main square, Piazza IX Aprile. Head down Via Bagnoli Croce until you reach the intersection with Via Roma. Turn left and continue walking until you reach the SS185 road. Follow the road signs towards Castiglione di Sicilia. The walk is approximately 7 kilometers and will take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace.
